CSAPP LEGISLATIVE DAY
Each year, CSAPP sponsors a Legislative Day at the Massachusetts Statehouse so that youth can show their support of our agency, our schools and our community.
Youth provide testimony recounting their experiences, the barriers they have overcome, their concerns and plans for the future.
Citations from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts are issued to school personnel and human service providers who have given extensive support to our youth and staff at our school based sites.
The experience is empowering for our youth, many of whom neither have visited the State House nor spoken in public before. The young people learn that by speaking out, they can affect how the government serves them, that their voice matters and that civic engagement is important throughout their lives.
CSAPP ANNUAL BREAKFAST
At CSAPP’s Annual Breakfast on June 18, 2008, staff, Board, youth, their families and the providers of many human service agencies celebrated thirty years of uninterrupted school based services.
The purpose of our Annual Breakfast is to honor, and to acknowledge and thank the families of all kinds who have supported and helped our youth recognize that a system of support – which provides trust and hope – is the key to succeeding in life.
Our Annual Breakfast provides CSAPP with the opportunity to honor our youth by presenting its “Outstanding Student Achievement Award” to teen mothers, teen fathers, middle school and other at-risk youth who, despite overwhelming odds have succeeded. Award recipients are attending school regularly, receiving passing grades, graduating, strengthening their ability to parent, and planning for the future after high school.
